REDACCIÓN HO.- El doctor Oscar Biscet González, médico cubano, está condenado a 25 años de dura prisión acusado de "peligrosidad social" por la dictadura comunista cubana. Lleva ya cumplidos seis años en una celda bajo tierra, sin auxilios médicos ni religiosos, sin más entretenimiento que leer su vieja Biblia, con visita familiar una vez cada 4 meses. Plataformabiscet.org busca adhesiones a esta candidatura e impulsar la causa mundial por la liberación de este médico, preso político de la dictadura comunista cubana perseguido por negarse a realizar abortos y defender la libertad. Medicina Cubana: Dr. Oscar Elías Biscet is nominated for the prestigious "Prince of Asturias Award" in Spain.
The Prince of Asturias Awards, initiated in 1981, is a series of annual prizes given in Spain by the Fundación Príncipe de Asturias to individuals, entities and/or organizations from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, or public affairs.
They are divided into eight categories (Arts, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, International Cooperation, Technical and Scientific Research, Letters, Sport and Concord).
More than 43,000 signatures from all over the world were submitted with Dr. Biscet's application.
The winner of the Concord award last year was Ingrid Betancourt, the Colombian former presidential candidate who was held captive by the FARC terrorist group for 6 years.
"Mensajeros de la Paz" (Messengers of Peace) an organization founded in Spain in 1962 by Father Angel García, who won the Concord award in 1994, sent a letter of support for Dr. Biscet. See the letter here (In Spanish).
The winner of the Concord award will be known in September.
