Dr. Oscar Elías Biscet, who has been jailed for the last 6 years by the Castro regime for defending human rights in the enslaved island, has been nominated for the "Príncipe de Asturias de la Concordia" (Prince of Asturias Concord).
The Prince of Asturias Awards, initiated in 1981, is a series of annual prizes given in Spain by the Fundación Príncipe de Asturias to individuals, entities and/or organizations from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, or public affairs.
They are divided into eight categories (Arts, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, International Cooperation, Technical and Scientific Research, Letters, Sport and Concord).
More than 43,000 signatures from all over the world were submitted with Dr. Biscet's application.
The winner of the Concord award last year was Ingrid Betancourt, the Colombian former presidential candidate who was held captive by the FARC terrorist group for 6 years.
"Mensajeros de la Paz" (Messengers of Peace) an organization founded in Spain in 1962 by Father Angel García, who won the Concord award in 1994, sent a letter of support for Dr. Biscet. See the letter here (In Spanish).
